Synonym: TNF-bound colloidal gold (SY) (Source: NCI) / Colloidal Gold-Bound Tumor Necrosis Factor (PT) (Source: NCI) / colloidal gold-bound TNF (SY) (Source: NCI) / colloidal gold-bound rhTNF (SY) (Source: NCI) / Colloidal Gold-Bound Recombinant Human Tumor Necrosis Factor (SY) (Source: NCI) / CYT-6091 (CN) (Source: NCI) / Aurimmune (BR) (Source: NCI)
Definition: A nanoparticle delivery system comprised of the recombinant human tumor necrosis factor (TNF) bound to pegylated colloidal gold nanoparticles with potential antineoplastic activity. Upon intravenous administration, colloidal gold-bound recombinant human TNF travels through the bloodstream, avoiding immune detection and uptake by the reticuloendothelial system, and accumulates in tumor tissues. The delivery of TNF to the tumor leads to a decrease in cellular proliferation and increase in apoptosis. Compared to the administration of native TNF, colloidal gold-bound TNF improves the safety and efficacy of TNF treatment by delivering TNF directly to its target site. (Source: NCI)
