About Collaborative Vocabulary Development

The EVS group of the NCI CBIIT develops and maintains infrastructure to support vocabulary development efforts by NCI personnel and collaborators. This BiomedGT Semantic Media Wiki is part of this infrastructure, serving as an outward-facing component of a vocabulary development environment. It allows developers to solicit input in a user-friendly manner, and in a structured format, from their own collaborators. The more complicated aspects of terminology development are then worked on and completed from within the Protege editing environment utilizing the EVS's NCIEditTab Protege plug-in.

Terminology content developed in this wiki can be transferred to and integrated into the BiomedGT terminology and/or converted into LexGrid format as a stand alone source in order to make it available to the Cancer Bioinformatics Grid (caBIG) community and other interested users.

Notice to Project Officers

A number of vocabulary development projects are being supported with this wiki. The projects that these collaborators are working on are:

  • CTCAE version 4 (CTEP)
  • Nanoparticle Ontology (U. Wash.)
  • RadLex (RSNA)
