The following table describes the various roles that BiomedGT users will assume.

Editing Type Description
Viewer An interested party who uses the BiomedGT wiki resource to browse and query the contents of a terminological resource.
SME Subject Matter Expert; this person has recognized expertise in a particular field that is (or will be) covered by one of the terminological resources within the BiomedGT. SMEs are authorized to participate in discussions and suggest changes to the content area that corresponds to their area of expertise.
Alpha SME A subject matter expert responsible for coordinating the efforts of a group of SMEs in particular area or field. An Alpha SME can
  • Initiate content creation and review tasks
  • Identify collections of content change requests (CCRs) as being ready for incorporation/adoption.
Content Curator An ontology expert responsible for incorporating change requests into formal terminological resources.
Alpha Curator A content curator responsible for assigning and tracking the work of content curators. An alpha curator is also responsible for gathering and coordinating CCRs.
Consumer Web Page An external web page that references one or more terminological entries within the BiomedGT.
Consumer Application Software that retrieves terminological resources from BiomedGT for the purposes of further assimilation or processing.
